Meme
November 15, 2007Okay, so I’m not really sure what this is either, but I’ve been tagged by Jodi
And, it gives me something to write about during the waiting game. I’m learning that the adoption process is one BIG waiting game…then you’re crazy busy getting things turned in…then back to the waiting game. We’re currently waiting on a packet that lets us know the millions of documents I need to start gathering for our homestudy and dossier. Then I will have plenty to do and plenty to update you on.
So here’s the deal. I have to write 5 interesting things about myself and then tag three other people (I think it is a way to get to know other bloggers - it is called meme).
1. I’ve had this secret (not so secret to Ben) desire to go to IHOP at 3:00 in the morning for like two years now…..just to be crazy. But I NEVER do it because I know it’s so bad for me and I hate spending money. The day I finally break down and do it, I’m sure the desire will instantly go away because I’ll realize it just wasn’t worth it. Until then, I’ll keep drooling during the commercials.
2. I cried after my very first interaction with Ben. He made a not-so-nice face after hearing/seeing me play piano for the first time in college….my very first week of freshman year. I felt like a big time loser. Now that we’re married, I can make all the faces I want at him
just kidding!!!!
3. I still take piano lessons. People think it’s weird that a piano teacher takes piano lessons. But I do, and I do it because just like any other student, I need the motivation and inspiration of someone better than me. It keeps me focused and driven, and helps me tremendously in my own teaching….my teacher even continues to take lessons from someone else. I’m currently in love with a Schumann Romanze, Beethoven Sonata and Brahms Rhapsody.
4. I have an obsession with being on time. It really drives me crazy and I break out in a sweat and start pacing if I know I’m going to be even two minutes late. Marrying Ben has been the BEST thing for me with this issue. He seems to have an obsession with being late and we balance each other perfectly. I’m really not ripping on him….I think his flexible, spontaneous, non-obsessive compulsiveness is good for me.
5. Ben is my best friend. I often find myself just sitting at the door waiting for him to come home like a sad, lonely puppy. Even if he has to come home and study or do something that has nothing to do with me, I like having him here. Plus, he’s really cute.
Okay, I tag:
Nicole - www.mikeandthegirls.blogspot.com
Ashley - www.anjustic.wordpress.com
Dave Nannery (because I dare you to blog about something not serious!!) - www.banannery.wordpress.com
I was about to point out that the top post on my blog is not serious, but then I realized that bigotry against Canadians is in fact a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE.
So I will take you up on your challenge…tomorrow.
P.S. It’s not weird to hate being late…I do, too. Oh wait…that doesn’t prove it’s not weird.
Aren’t you supposed to be listening to your seminary instructor right now? that darn wireless…such a distraction. Now go distract Ben by saying hi for me!!
Anyway, you’re right…not ALL your blogs are serious. But Adam’s are…tag him on that one
What!!!! Let me go check…
OK, you’re right, they are all serious
I guess I’m making up for the old school blogging/xanga days when the post weren’t serious. Tag me Dave, I dare you
HA! Don’t worry, I’ll tag Adam…
I also have an obsession with being on time…I HATE being late! And I’ve been to IHOP at 3 in the morning, it is fun if you are with the right crowd. I for one get very giggly at that hour! Ok, I’m off to write interesting things about myself…
Your friends are so fun!! It is cracking me up looking and the comments and I went to anjustic’s blog to see her answers. None of my friends have filled out their meme yet (except you of course).
I did not know that about when you first met Ben. What a jerk! Just kidding! And who would have ever thought that would be your future husband.
[...] by Adam Hoagland in Fun. trackback Today my blog has been “labeled” as serious in a comment section. I’m not going to mention the name of this individual, but I’ll direct you to [...]
Just for the record, I had no malicious intent in my so-called “not-so-nice” face directed at Janet the first time I met her. The untold story is that our professor had coerced me into making that face. He threatened to kill me! Scout’s honor!
BEN!!!! I can’t believe you did that! I would have cried too!!
Ben’s face made me cry almost 28 years ago when the doctor handed him to me!
Janet, this post was so fun to read … and the comments made me laugh out loud. I agree with Jodi - your friends are fun.

[...] time to get around to the meme that seems to be all the rage among my friends’ blogs now. (It’s Janet’s fault, of course.) So here is my entry, two days later than originally promised [...]
Your first encounter with Ben made me laugh. I thought that Jathan was a jerk the first time I talked to him.
I’ve been to IHOP at 4 am. I remember thinking that this is crazy, I should be sleeping!
